Display - There are several uses for an electronic display module called a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panel. A 16x2 LCD display is a fairly basic module that is widely utilized in many different kinds of circuits and gadgets. An LCD with a 16x2 matrix may show up to 16 characters on each of its two lines. Every character in this LCD is shown as a 5 by 8 pixel matrix. There are 256 distinct characters and symbols that can be displayed on the 16 x 2 intelligent alphanumeric dot matrix display. I2C serial interface - A regular 16 x 2 or 20 x 4 character display module that supports 4-bit mode can be connected to this RoHS compliant I2C Serial LCD display board module. Nearly all 16x2 and 20x4 line character modules that are offered commercially also support 4-bit mode, as do all character modules that are sold on our website. The PCF8574 I2C chip on this board is used to translate I2C serial data into parallel data for the LCD display. Online tutorials for utilizing this board with Arduino abound. Three solder jumpers on the board allow you to adjust the default I2C address, which is 0x3F. This enables a single I2C bus to operate up to three LCD panels, enabling each one its own address).
