The dust cap, often referred to as the dust dome or dome, is a softly curved dome that is placed over the centre hole of most loudspeaker diaphragms in either a concave or convex orientation. It shields the internal mechanics—like the voice coil and pole pieces—from impurities and tiny particles that might irritate them. Because they are constructed from premium materials, the soft dome speakers are long-lasting. The majority of standard-sized speakers can be fitted with these speaker components. A circular piece of material called a bass speaker dust cap is placed over the top of the speaker to shield it from dust and other debris. For your speaker, this dust cap is a replaceable component.
