In order to improve system accuracy, the TL431 pin-to-pin alternatives have better stability, lower temperature drift (VI(dev)), and lower reference current (Iref). Three-terminal adjustable shunt regulators, the TL431 devices have specified thermal stability across the relevant commercial, military, and automotive temperature ranges. With two external resistors, the output voltage can be adjusted to any value between Vref (roughly 2.5 V) and 36 V.
