MCP23017 16 Bit I/O Expander with serial interface DIP 28 pin IC

This IC consists of multiple 8 bit configuration registers for input, output and polarity selection. The system master can enable the I/O's as either inputs or outputs by writing the I/O configuration bits. The data for each input or output is keep in the corresponding input or output register. The polarity of the Input Port register can be invert with the polarity inversion register. You can use the MCP23017 to increase the number of I/O pins for any microcontroller that can communicate using an I2C interface. The Power on reset sets the registers to their default values and initializes the device state machine.
