MCP3008 8 Channel 10 Bit A/D converter with SPI serial interface DIP 16 pin IC
This is an integrated circuit (IC) that has 8 channels and a resolution of 10 bits for analog-to-digital conversion (ADC). The device has the capability to measure eight distinct analog voltages with a resolution of 10 bits. This integrated circuit (IC) is capable of quantifying the magnitude of an analog voltage within the range of 0 to 1023. It then transmits this value to a microcontroller or CPU using SPI connection. The device is compatible with both 3.3V and 5V power sources. Therefore, it is compatible with both 5V microcontrollers and 3.3V devices such as the Raspberry PI. The Analog voltage is converted to a digital value using the SAR technique. While it may not possess the highest speed and accuracy among available ADCs, it is the most affordable and user-friendly option.
