The AMS1117-ADJ integrated circuit functions as a variable voltage regulator, boasting a minimal dropout and the ability to deliver currents of up to 1 A. For low voltage applications where transient response and voltage dropout are of the utmost importance, these devices have been optimized. The regulator will be deactivated by thermal protection circuitry if the junction temperature at the sense point exceeds 165°C. These devices are pin-compatible with older three-terminal adjustable regulators and provide enhanced reference stability with temperature, a more precise tolerance for reference errors, and a reduced dropout voltage.
