Electrical power and electronic signals can be amplified or switched using the semiconductor device 2N6107. Usually consisting of semiconductor material, it has a minimum of three terminals to link to an external circuit. Applying a voltage or current to one set of transistor terminals regulates the current flowing through another set of terminals. A transistor can enhance a signal because the regulated (output) power has the potential to exceed the controlling (input) power and so on. Transistors are now found embedded in integrated circuits, although many more are packaged separately.
