The three-layer NPN device known as the BU407 functions within its operating range. The collector current, or IC, increases in proportion to a change in the base current, IB, for a given collector emitter voltage, VCE. The output stages of TVs and CRTs use these high-voltage, high-speed transistors for horizontal deflection. Very low saturation voltage and fast switching times lead to lower switching and conduction losses.
