The built-in circuit AMS1117-ADJ is an adjustable voltage regulator with low dropout and current output capability of up to 1 A. These devices are designed with low-voltage applications in mind, where voltage dropout and transient response are essential. If the junction temperature reaches more than 165°C at the experience point, the regulator will be turned off by thermal safety circuitry. These units offer the benefits of reduced dropout voltage, increased specific reference tolerance, and improved reference steadiness with temperature. They are pin-well-suited with older three-terminal adjustable regulators.
