This IC converts eight active-low inputs into a 3-bit binary output, where the highest-priority active input takes precedence. The 74HC148 takes in eight active-low inputs (I0 to I7) and generates a binary code corresponding to the highest-priority input. Priority is assigned in descending order, where input I7 has the highest priority and I0 the lowest.
