74HC151 8-Input Multiplexer IC DIP-16 Package
The 74HC157 is a Quad 2-Input Multiplexer IC in a DIP-16 package, designed to route data from multiple sources to a single output. Each of the four multiplexers has two input lines and one output, controlled by a common select line. This IC enables switching between two data lines for each multiplexer, which is ideal for applications where multiple data sources need to be selected and routed to a single line, such as data routing in digital systems, signal selection, and more. In this IC, each of the four 2-input multiplexers can independently select one of its two input lines (A or B) based on the state of the select line (S). When the select line is LOW, the inputs from the A lines are passed to the outputs; when it’s HIGH, the B inputs are routed to the outputs. The 74HC157 also includes an Enable (active LOW) pin, which controls the overall operation of the device. When the Enable pin is HIGH, all outputs are forced to a high-impedance state, effectively disconnecting them. This feature allows for easy integration into bus systems where multiple devices may share the same lines without interference.
