The 74HC192 is a high-speed, CMOS-based Decade Up/Down Counter with Clear functionality, housed in a compact 16-pin DIP package. This versatile counter can count up or down between 0 and 9 in decimal (decade) mode, providing a wide range of applications in digital systems, including frequency division, event counting, and digital clocks. The 74HC192 has asynchronous clear and load features that enhance its flexibility and control over counting operations. This IC has dedicated up and down inputs, allowing it to count up or down based on external control signals. When a high signal is applied to the UP input, the 74HC192 increments the count, while a high signal on the DOWN input decrements it. An additional CLEAR input immediately resets the counter to zero, providing rapid initialization or reset functionality. The counter also has a LOAD input to preset the counter to a specified value, making it adaptable for applications needing a predetermined starting count. The 74HC192 outputs are in binary-coded decimal (BCD), providing a digital representation of the decimal count on four output pins.
