CA3161 IC + CA3162 IC Pair A/D Converter for 3 Digit Display DIP-16 Package
The CA3161 and CA3162 IC pair form a complete Analog-to-Digital (A/D) conversion and display solution for driving 3-digit LED displays. Both ICs are housed in compact DIP-16 packages, making them suitable for easy integration in digital voltmeters, panel meters, and other instrumentation applications requiring direct analog input conversion and display output. The CA3162 functions as a 3-digit A/D converter. It converts analog input signals into a digital representation using a 3-digit Binary-Coded Decimal (BCD) format. This IC features an integrated clock and reference voltage source, simplifying design and minimizing external components. It also includes functionality for zero suppression, enabling a clean and readable display by omitting leading zeros. The CA3161 is a BCD to 7-segment decoder and driver IC. It accepts the BCD output from the CA3162 and drives the corresponding 7-segment LEDs to visually display the converted analog signal. Its high-current output capability directly drives LED segments, eliminating the need for additional drivers or transistors.
