The 74HC165 is an 8-bit Parallel-In/Serial-Out (PISO) Shift Register IC in a DIP-16 package, designed for efficient data transfer and storage in digital applications. This IC is highly useful in systems where multiple parallel data bits need to be captured simultaneously and then transferred serially.
