74HC393 Dual 4-bit Binary Ripple Counter SMD IC
A dual 4-bit binary ripple counter integrated circuit (IC) in an SMD (Surface Mount Device) package, the 74HC393 is perfect for counting applications requiring frequency division and binary sequence generation. This integrated circuit has two separate 4-bit binary counters that can each count from 0 to 15 in binary. When both counters are used together, the total count range is 0 to 255. Since the 74HC393 is a ripple counter, the ripple effect spreads from one flip-flop stage to the next as the counter increases with each clock pulse. Each stage has two independent 4-bit binary counters and Q outputs that are accessible at the corresponding counter outputs. In a variety of electronic systems, this feature can be used as a time delay circuit, frequency division, or event counting. With a voltage range of 2V to 6V, this integrated circuit is compatible with a wide variety of systems, including TTL circuits and microcontrollers. With propagation delays of less than 100 ns at 5V, its CMOS technology ensures low power consumption and high-speed performance. Additionally, the 74HC393 has clear and reset functionality that increases its adaptability in intricate designs by enabling the counters to be reset to zero when necessary.
