The CD4060 is a 14-stage ripple carry binary counter and oscillator IC in a DIP-16 package, designed for applications requiring precise timing and frequency division. This IC combines a binary counter and an internal oscillator, eliminating the need for external timing components in certain designs. The counter stages are cascaded, providing a divide-by-2 to divide-by-16,384 (2^14) counting range, enabling it to handle timing and counting tasks with high accuracy. The CD4060 features an inbuilt oscillator circuit that can be easily configured with external resistors and capacitors, allowing it to generate clock pulses without additional components. These pulses drive the internal binary counter, which outputs various divided-down frequency signals through its 10 output pins (Q4 to Q14).
