CD4532 8 Bit Priority Encoder IC (DIP-16 Package)
The CD4532 is an 8-bit priority encoder IC housed in a DIP-16 package, designed for use in digital systems where priority encoding is needed. This IC takes up to eight active-low inputs and encodes the highest-priority input into a 3-bit binary code on the output. It is particularly useful in systems that require data prioritization, such as interrupt handling in microcontrollers, digital multiplexers, and signal routing applications. The CD4532 features active-low inputs (I0 to I7) where I0 has the highest priority and I7 the lowest. When multiple inputs are active simultaneously, the IC outputs the code corresponding to the highest-priority active input, ensuring reliable data selection. The IC also provides an active-low group select output (GS) and a group select input (EI) for cascading multiple encoders for extended bit-width capabilities. Operating over a wide voltage range of 3V to 15V, the CD4532 is compatible with various logic levels, enhancing its applicability in mixed-voltage environments. The IC’s CMOS technology ensures low power consumption and high noise immunity, making it efficient and stable for use in complex digital systems.
