The CD4514 is a 4-bit latch and 4-to-16 line decoder IC, available in a DIP-24 package, designed for use in digital systems requiring multiple output control, such as data routing, memory addressing, and digital display driving. This IC combines the functionality of a 4-bit latch and a 4-to-16 line decoder, which can decode a 4-bit input into one of 16 distinct output lines. The 4-bit latch section of the CD4514 allows the input data (D0–D3) to be stored when the latch enable (LE) input is activated. Once latched, the data remains stable until the latch is enabled again, making it suitable for applications where data needs to be retained for extended periods. The decoded output is controlled by the latch to activate one of the 16 output lines (O0–O15), which can be used for selecting devices or routing signals. Operating over a wide supply voltage range from 3V to 15V, the CD4514 is versatile and compatible with various logic levels.
