CD4511 BCD To 7 Segment Latch Decoder Driver IC (DIP-16 Package)
The CD4511 is a BCD (Binary Coded Decimal) to 7-segment latch/decoder/driver IC in a DIP-16 package, specifically designed for controlling 7-segment displays in digital applications. This IC converts a 4-bit BCD input, which represents a decimal number from 0 to 9, into the corresponding 7-segment display code, allowing for easy display of numerical values. The CD4511 features a latch function that holds the decoded data stable on the display output until a new input is latched. The latch enable (LE) input allows the BCD data to be stored in the internal register, and the display remains unchanged until the latch is updated. This makes the IC ideal for use in applications such as digital clocks, counters, and meters where stable and accurate display of numerical values is needed. In addition to the basic latch and decode function, the CD4511 includes several useful control inputs, such as the blanking input (BI) for turning off the display and the lamp test (LT) input to check the functionality of the individual display segments. The IC can drive a common cathode 7-segment display and operates over a wide supply voltage range from 3V to 15V, making it compatible with various logic levels.
