CD4033 5-Stage Johnson Decade counter IC (DIP-16 Package)
The CD4033 is a 5-stage Johnson decade counter IC with a built-in 7-segment display driver, available in a DIP-16 package. This versatile IC is designed for counting applications and is commonly used in digital display systems where numerical readouts are needed. The CD4033 counts from 0 to 9 (a full decade) in a sequence of 10 steps and directly drives a 7-segment display to represent the current count. The CD4033 features five flip-flop stages configured as a Johnson counter, ensuring a sequential output pattern that cycles through ten unique states before resetting. The internal 7-segment decoder/driver simplifies the connection to a display by translating the counter output to the corresponding segments needed to display digits from 0 to 9. Operating over a wide voltage range of 3V to 15V, the CD4033 is suitable for various digital and battery-powered circuits. CMOS technology provides the IC with low power consumption and high noise immunity, making it reliable in a variety of electronic environments. The IC has an internal carry-out signal that allows cascading multiple CD4033 ICs for counting beyond a single decade.
