CD4094 8-Stage Shift and Store Bus Register IC (DIP-16 Package)
The CD4094 is an 8-stage shift and store bus register IC housed in a DIP-16 package, designed to perform serial-to-parallel data conversion and data storage in digital systems. It features eight stages of shift registers, which allow data to be shifted in serially through the data input pin (D) and stored in parallel on the eight output pins (Q0–Q7) after being shifted through the register. The CD4094 operates with a clock (CLK) signal that controls the shifting of data from the serial input to the register stages. The data is shifted on the rising edge of the clock pulse, and the IC can hold or store the shifted data until the next clock cycle. This functionality is ideal for applications that need to convert serial data streams into parallel outputs, such as interfacing microcontrollers with display drivers, multiplexers, or other peripheral devices that require parallel data. In addition to the shift functionality, the CD4094 features a storage function that allows the data to be latched into the outputs using a latch enable (LE) input. The IC also provides a serial output (QH) for cascading multiple ICs when more than 8 bits are needed. Operating over a wide voltage range from 3V to 18V, the CD4094 is versatile and compatible with different logic levels. Its CMOS technology ensures low power consumption and high noise immunity, making it suitable for use in various low-power and noise-sensitive applications.
